I don't believe it, and even if I did.. this "secret friendship" is such a betrayal to me, that it's something I'll never get over. Please be as honest as possible because I need honesty right now, and nothing could ever hurt me worse than what I've been going through.

Uh, it really is for some men. Where I grew up, a woman insisting on splitting the bill on the first date is essentially saying, "Let's be friends." The men whom I have been with would have been quite put off if I had refused to let them pay. I split the bill with a few guys whom I didn't want to be with and they DID get somewhat upset about it (but that was the whole point of me insisting - it was a strong signal that I didn't want to date them). Just how social signals in some cultures work, and just how some men feel/think.

Thanks for the brutal honesty.

I have a girl that is pursuing me now, which is nothing new - but this time, I actually like her! It's a great feeling...or at least it would be if she would start moving past her ex.

My plan is to propose to my girlfriend the beginning of the fall, as we’ve been dating for exactly 5 years. However, I’ve been doing some heavy thinking…and honestly, I’m very afraid that we are too different and this could be a short marriage. I love her, I am EXTREMELY attracted to her, and we make each other laugh and enjoy each other’s company. However, there are some major differences that I’m afraid might not make it work.

Ok ladies, time to show your cards. Any woman on this forum that is single does not have trouble with finding the right man, you are single by choice. And I will prove it.

A beautiful voice does not mean a beautiful woman.

I don't think it would be a turn off for me. But, it would be annoying if things got serious and expected me to lie about how we met.

I think i was sticking around mostly because I've never had anyone and was scared if i didn't see her again that i would never find someone. So a couple months went by and she ended up texting me i was kinda leary about texting back because its been awhile and i was moving on. I was telling my self not to see her again and telling my stuff things like remember she had big arms... Stuff i wasn't attracted too. Making excuses not to go back. But i did and i kinda got over the weight and arms and stuff a little. So we went on some more dates and started a relationship. Well it was good for about 3/4 of a year or so then i started not really wanting to be in a relationship anymore. And i wasn't really attracted to her as much, we still had A sexual relationship but not near as much as in the beginning. We now have been dating for almost two years and it seems like it hasn't got better.

Here, here to your last sentence. It's sad, but so true. Oh, so true. Reminds me of that Naked Eyes song, Promises.

I doubt your H believes you because honestly I don't believe you. I find it hard to believe that all you did with the guy was sneak around and "talk". I am sure that you had at the very least sexual talks with this man, flirting, and probably some physical contact. It will take your H years to gain trust in you but now you are tainted, and its completely your fault. Give your H as much time as he needs because this is ALL your fault

If you like this girl then you should panic.

Being engaged to someone after 3 months is a warning sign in itself (unless circumstances made that neccesary). How did the relationship come to an end? Can others confirm his story?

Am I really supporting him since he makes more money than me? Certainly he can do more for me financially. But he wants to buy a new car. And we both want to live together very soon.

Hi..a visiting writer, I am looking for companionship - this is not a euphemism. Company, conversation, a warm laugh..that's a lot. I am a good listener, a gentleman.

At this point you both have an idea on where it's going.

3. You owe them nothing. You know the game with online dating: You message the girl and hope to say something witty enough to get them to respond. Right off the bat you're chasing them, and it's an inherent turn-off with women. Contacting someone through facebook is much more natural, and they probably won't feel like you're some desperate lonely guy if you play your cards right.

I am 22 years old and am dating a guy who is 38. Our relationship is new, as we only been dating 6 weeks now. I never intended to date somebody 16 years older than me, but it happened, and I really like this guy. We have similiar hobbies, ambitions, careers, religious beliefs, morals/values, childhood experiences, and personalities. He has never been married nor does he have any children. He would like to someday marry and have children with the right woman. I'd also like to get married and have kids someday. I'm not saying that he is Mr. Right or the one, but he could be (the future will tell).

Definitely send your condolences in case. That's a horrendous lie if it is one

Now in time it might turn out that you two really are super compatible, but only time will tell. Right now they're just hormones and chemicals that are giving you this great excited feeling. THEY MEAN NOTHING LONG TERM. The problem is in thinking those feelings are more important then they are and then ignoring flags because you want to keep feeling good. That is the downfall of many.
